HES Book Club
PURPOSE
In Book Club, students will read books and meet to discuss the features of the stories. The most important part of the process is the last step. Talking about a book, sharing deep thoughts, and considering other people’s viewpoints are the goals of a Book Club. Plus, of course, having fun!
COMMITMENT
Students will be given access to any stories that we read as a group, so they are not responsible for purchasing any books. Even though discretion is used in choosing age-appropriate books of literary merit, it is possible that some books may contain elements that an individual parent deems inappropriate for his/her child. Attached you will find a list of the books that will be read during Book Club along with a calendar. We will meet Wednesday mornings 7:45 - 8:15am.
HOW TO APPLY
- Complete this permission form with the parent signature and return it to Mrs. Dudley by October 14, 2022. (They can be picked up at the library)
EXPECTATIONS
As a member of the HES Book Club, you will be held to certain expectations. Failure to follow these expectations can result in removal from the club.
- Attendance: Show up to meetings. Missing a few here and it is understandable, but if you miss more than 3 meetings, you may be removed from the group.
- Meet your Deadlines: Read the required chapters of your book by each meeting date.
